1440p 165hz capable on 780ti?

Its Displayport should be version 1.2

Found this online:

The older DisplayPort 1.2 is capable of 3840×2160, 4K, at 60 Hz; or 1080p resolution at 144Hz

I currently have a 60hz 1440p monitor so I haven't had to worry about display port version of my gpu, but would 144hz or 165hz work on whatever version of dp the 780ti has?

Just looking to see weather the gpu would be capable of running windows at that resolution/ refresh rate, not weather it would run games well.

I wouldn't count on it, tbh. The 780ti is around on par with the 1060, and having one, I know that it really depends on the game to even reach 60 FPS unless you wanna crank down the settings (Unless you want to do CS:GO or some older titles)

I just want to know weather the gpu will output 165hz at that resolution. I already have a 1440p monitor and know that I wont be hitting those framerates in games. I would just rater update the monitor before the gpu

Ok, as far as I'm aware dp 1.2 can handle 1440p at 165hz because thats what the port is listed as on the spec sheet for the monitor im looking at. Just wanted to see if my gpu had dp 1.2 because the spec sheet is buried in the depths of geforce.com somewhere

I would do gpu first, there a lot of really interesting new monitor technologies coming out in 2018

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

My custom cpu+gpu loop makes upgrading the gpu a non trivial task, and since I get most of my computer components including this monitor im looking at used, it'll take a while for those new technologies to trickle down to a price that id be willing to pay. part of my mentality is also the gsync would prolong the time i can use my current gpu for since sub 60 fps will be a bit smoother.
