Alright my problem is that my laptop is showing its age really badly (AMD A6-3400M, 4 GB RAM, Radeon Dual Graphics). I've upgraded that sucker with another 4 gb's of RAM, Samsung 850 Pro 512 GB and hard drive with capacity of 1 tb. Should I put my laptop on sale or slap a Linux distro like Ubuntu, CentOS or Debian and continue to work with cause I need it for school. (We don't have books, everything is going through our laptops)

Personally I would throw Debian on there, I haven't had a single issue with Stretch or for that fact sid. Depending on your linux experience I wouldn't recommend running sid.
