1070 vs 1070ti

Ayala

I’m building a gaming pc for a 1080p 144hz g sync monitor. Should I get a 1070 or spend the extra and get a ti? What model should I get?

1070 should be fine.

?????

Do you remember the
21st night of September?
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away

Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing.
As we danced in the night,
Remember how the stars stole the night away

At some point in the future you'll regret not getting a GTX 1080

So if you have the money for a brand new 1070ti swing for it.

a custom 1070 is within $50 of the 1070ti, some like the Gigabyte 1070ti gaming are the same price as the evga 1070 ftw so there no real reason to go for the 1070 when the 1070ti will greatly outperform it

+16% on userbench right now...and GTX 1080 is +27%

Wait, did you buy anything yet?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

user bench isnt really a good reference since the 1070ti should only be 5% less than 1080 performance, and even outperform a stock 1080 when overclocked, a heavily overclocked 1070 will never touch a reference 1070ti, but an average OC 1070ti>stock 1080 since it just has %5% less shaders

it also has slower memory

and it's 9%

its just that there is probably a lot of nicely overclocked 1080 in there.

yeah more than likely, but yeah the 1070ti is a better buy

yeah probably...altough i would favor a lower end 1080 to a mid/high range 1070ti..but not a blower cooler...anything with at least 2 fans.

dont buy a 1070 buy a 1070ti they are very similar in price. If u have a extra 90$ u wont regret a 1080

Is the upgrade from a 1070 to a 1080 really worth it for 1080p gaming?

IMHO yes it is...the GTX 1080 is at least 20% and most likely around 25% faster in most games, and if you look for a good price on a 1080 it's usually not much more than 20% extra of the 1070.

1080 will last you longer and will allow higher quality settings throughout. i do think it's better to get more than you need now, and be happy longer and more.

(your question is poor though, if you have a 1070 already NO the upgrade is not worth it, but if you shop for a new card, IMHO yes the extra money is well spent. 1070ti in there as well might be worth it even more.)

Then I would highly, very highly, suggest you return that monitor, and buy either a cheaper and better 1080p 144hz VA free-sync display, with better color reproduction than TN

Or save money with an RX 580 8GB, and get a better for the long run 1440p 144hz VA free-sync display, then upgrade to Navi sometime next year when 1080ti performance is $499

I'd go with option 2

The Nixeus display is cheaper at Newegg $369 right now

I don't think you'll notice 144hz vs 165hz, You will notice TN vs IPS, and saving money...
