New build

Hello!

I wish to build a new pc. My budget is around 1500 dollars. I wish to play games at 1080p and futureproof it a little. No big OC in future.

The parts I have so far found:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700

Motherboard: Asus Prime 350-Plus

PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 650W

RAM: G.Skill RipjawsV rew 2 16gb 3000mhz

GPU: MSI Gaming X GeForce GTX 1080 8gb

SSD: Kingston SSD HyperX Savage 480gb

HDD: Toshiba DT01ACA100 1TB

Are they decent or should I change something. All suggestions and help is welcome :)

Thank you!

The reviews on newegg are kinda polarizing for this board. Maybe look for a board with a better rating (eggs, number of reviews)

Wow it really has that low rating. I think the Asrock B350 Pro4 seems to be best alternative conseridering it's high rating and similar price. Thank you!

Is there any more coolers you can suggest, because sadly my local store does not have cryorig h7. They have such coolers https://www.1a.ee/arvutikomponendid_vorgutooted/korpused_jahutid/coolers/filter/444-15505:445-195427

There was an issues a few months ago with that particular cooler and the AM4 bracket not fitting correctly...

I don't know if coolermaster has fixed this.

The Antec A40 Pro is compatible. All the coolers with AM4 are compatible.... but the 212 turbo... hmm.... :~(

There's 0 reason to buy a 1080 for a 1080p 60hz display

Better to buy an RX 580 + 1080p 144hz display, most likely this VA display, which is going to be better than TN for daily use

For the motherboard the ASrock Pro4 is the bare minimum, ASUS PRIME PRO X370 is what you want to buy

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

A Hyper T4 will slot onto AM4 without any additional bracket needed.

Sadly I already have a monitor, but I will consider it. Is Asus prime x370 just better for overclocking or other things as well?

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

It's a higher tier motherboard with a different chipset (x370), means more ports essentially (more usb, pci-e). It's a premium board, basically.

What is your current monitor?

The PRIME PRO just has a solid VRM for the money, the PRIME Plus is pretty basic, not much better than the ASRock Pro 4 which is $60 right now.

I see. That's fair. My monitor is samsung syncmaster sa550. It has 75hz if I am right.

Then ya, get a monitor upgrade with your new GPU, especially since you're only going to be using like 50% of that 1080 to run at 1080p 75hz. Buy a high end GPU next year or something when 1080ti performance is like $499, either keep that one as a secondary, or just sell it at some point.

There's the monitor in that build

Hmm, it sounds pretty interesting, but if I would settle down with this idea I would need some other 144hz monitor. Sadly this monitor does not ship to Estonia in amazon and nothing ships to Estonia from newegg at all. Eastern-Europe problems :( Sorry for not saying my location at first place.

Then I have absolutely no idea about your display, you don't need to have the same type of display to use both at the same time, but I would surely get an RX 580 for a 1080p 75hz display, save the rest of the GPU money for next year and get a display upgrade with your high end GPU.

Otherwise you aren't really making use of that 1070 or 1080.

That is a good idea, I need to think about it.
