How does this build look

DevilsHand676

Building a PC for my friend who wanted it to be around 500. Wanted to see if you guys thought this was good: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZPrcWX

The potential issue is that:

"Some Intel H110 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Kaby Lake-S CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions."

I just wanted to know if this was going to be a problem with my build

If you have to flash the BIOS, you'll need a Skylake CPU for that. Get an H270 board if you possibly can.

I could do that but it would be a bit higher price than he would want. The only thing I think he could reduce in price in the GTX 1050 ti, do you suggest a different one?

I would try not to use a dual-core CPU if you want any sort of longevity out of it.

Good call, do you have a build around $500 you would recommend?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

All that matters for gaming is 4 threads, i3s and the G4560 are fine for gaming at 60hz, but Ryzen is a better value regardless.

According to the cpu compatibility list the i3-7100 does not need a BIOS update, see https://ca.msi.com/Motherboard/support/H110M-GAMING#support-cpu.

Corsair CX450 (2017) is more than enough psu for the build.

The motherboard is mATX, the case is ATX. The motherboard will look a little lost in the case. You should consider an ATX motherboard.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

I'd probably get the better CPU rather than putting that money into the GPU for the long haul.
