Ryzen Memory Support Issues

Go to solution Solved by aisle9,

Generally speaking, I wouldn't recommend lower than 2666MHz for Ryzen, ideally at least 3000. If there's a 2666 kit out there for around the same price, go for it. At those speeds, the Hynix vs B-Die question isn't as important, because just about any kit can hit 2666 at this point. At 3000-3200 (or above), Samsung B-Die becomes more of a must-have.

To your question, yes, you should be fine. Ryzen has memory at and below 2666MHz more or less figured out at this point.

Hi Everyone, I just bought the Asus Prime B350 Plus Motherboard for my upcoming ryzen rig featuring a (hopefully) R5 1600 cpu.

I have heard lots of talk about ram incompatibility issues with ryzen. This is the kit I am looking to buy:

On the asus ram compatibility list, It has the 16gb kit shown as supported, but not the 8Gb. Am i Still safe to buy it?

Here is the 16gb  part #: F4-2400C15D-169GVR   <-- this IS on the supported list

The 8gb kit I want to buy is: F4-2400C15D-8GVR <-- This is NOT on the list.

Do you think there will be any issues? Thanks guys.

The ram on the qvl is just 2x the 8GB stick, so yes it should be fine.

However, you might be better off getting some higher speed ram 3000/3200 if it's not too much more expensive.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Higher speed ram is ludicrously more expensive in Canada at the moment so 2400mhz is pretty much all the bank can afford.
