Adjusting aspect ratio of old DVD's

Recently I have been ripping my DVD collection via MakeMKV to put on my Plex server but when I went to watch one of my movies back it was in a 2 x 3 aspect ratio but when I stuck the DVD in my Blu-ray drive it gave me a 16 x 9 aspect ratio. I was wondering how I would convert it to 16 x 9, if Plex can convert it for I was playing back at original quality because I have to because my server is not powerful enough yet to encode on the fly. Is there a way to adjust the file because when I view the raw file on my computer that I riped on VLC it’s 2 x 3 aspect ratio along with viewing it directly off the disk on my pc.

The DVD has a flag that tells the software what aspect ratio the video should be set to even though the video's native resolution isn't in that aspect ratio.

I believe Handbrake can force an aspect ratio change.

With handbrake leave the anamorphic in auto and the crop in auto, check the preview. Works for me. I found this answer in the handbrake wiki.

The latest versions of handbrake can handle that "bug"

Hope helps
