What do you think about this build ?

Evilshifterl

Ryzen 5 1600 CPU

Asus Prime B350-PLUS motherboard

Gigabyte Gtx1060 windforce oc 3gb

RIPJAWS  8GB x1 ram

FSP HYPER S 600W PSU

I have a question!

I have a 2tb HDD laying around it has win7 and it's password protected !

Ps:I forget the password.

I will be Getting only  SSD with win10 on it . so my question is can i just plug and  reset that hdd and be able to use it as extra storage ? Like how those that go ?  the password won't be a problem ? ?

Or should I just get a new HDD , that might sound a bit stupid for some but I never even looked into it , thanks !

If you don't care about the stuff on it just format it. If you do I'm pretty sure if you are booting from a different drive you can access the files through explorer it's been a while since I did the same thing but iirc I just installed windows on a new drive and got my files through explorer I could be wrong though

If the build is for games then it's ok. The graphics card seems a little weak with a R5 1600, but for the future though upgrading the graphics card only is clearly better for your wallet than upgrading both the graphics card and CPU.

Password doesnt lock the drive itself or the data, just the OS. You can grab whatever you want to keep back once you get the build set up with OS in the SSD. Make sure it boots to the SSD though.

Do you have a PCPartpicker link for it with prices? I've never head of that PSU before, and it doesn't seem to have a product page so depending in what you're paying for it, it might be a bit of a sketchy deal. Don't cheap out on a PSU.

A budget would also help, as some of those choices are unusual. If you can't afford a 1060 6GB (which is a major improvement over the 3GB for a marginally higher price), I'd consider dropping from the 1600 to a 1500X and grab a 1060 6GB. If the RAM you're getting is any less than 2400mhz, I'd consider upgrading it to minimum 2400mhz as well.

In terms of the drive, just format it. It will work fine as an additional storage device.

I'm keeping everything else the way it was for anyone who might check out my answers in future, but I won't be using LTT.

Seems mostly good.

The PSU is suspicious and I'd take 2x4GB over 1x8GB any day of the week, as it's twice as fast.

The CPU is a great choice and you should hold onto it. As far as the GPU is concerned, as JaegerB stated above, the 6GB variants actually have more CUDA cores. Shitty buisness practice, but what can you do.

They actually make some good PSU for the price and come with a 5years warranty even better than tte

I think jurrunio has said everything about why I picked those CPU/GPU

Also the ram is 2800mhz

@Snooli I was thinking about a double 8gb lol

Just make sure you'll run dual-channel with the second one.

1x8 is smart. He just grabs another stick when he can afford it, and then he's got dual-channel and not all his slots filled with 4GB sticks if he goes with 2x4.

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I'm trying to warn him about the troubles surrounding dual-channel RAM. He'll have to get the EXACT same module for it to work down the road.

That shouldn't be too hard.

What do you think guys about PSU

Im scratching my head between this two

-fsp hyper s 700w 5years warranty

-thermal take smart 700w 1year for this

Both 80+

The Tt is bit  cheaper but they are almost at the same price range

I'm leaning toward fsp but I'm happy to hear your opinion :) thank you

What about this builds

The first one I posted

Ryzen 5 1600 CPU

Asus Prime B350-PLUS motherboard

Gigabyte Gtx1060 windforce oc 3gb

RIPJAWS  8GB x2 ddr4 2800mhz

FSP HYPER S 700W PSU

120gb SSD

Or

Ryzen 5 1600

Same motherboard

Asus gtx 960 turbo oc 4gb

16gb ddr4 3k MHz

60gb SSD

Thermal take smart 700w

Or

Ryzen 5 1600

Same motherboard

Gigabyte gtx 1060 g1gaming 6gb

8gb ddr4 2400 MHz

60gb SSD

Thermal take smart se 530w

They are all at the same price range  , which one do you think is the more balanced one ? I'm going with the first build cause It seems like the best  for me but still happy to hear you out  , have a nice day !
