The cheapest 1440p 144hz IPS display otherwise is $399, at least I think that one is IPS anyways

I'd shoot for IPS over TN, especially if you're about to drop that much

You can also get a 1080p 144hz VA display for $250 1440p at 24" is a bit small anyways

i like this dell monitor, i dont mind tn at all, but do you think 280 is fair when it is 380 new. it looks barley used.

Certainly not bad for the money, just a bad panel type for the money, sort of.

Like my 1080p 144hz display is TN, but that's only because I didn't know about the VA Korean monitor, and it was only $200

Not all TN panels have poor colors. Dell is using a very good panel that could fool more than a few people into thinking it's IPS.

Like my 1080p 144hz display is TN, but that's only because I didn't know about the VA Korean monitor, and it was only $200

it has g sync, so from what i understand, say im playing a super intense game, and my 1070 can only get like 60 fps, g sync would keep it smooth?

It just eliminates screen tearing that can happen if you aren't at your monitor's native refresh rate. Only going to be a lot smoother if you really notice screen tearing.

what would you rather, 1080p 24 inch and max every game over 100fps, or 1440p max out a lot of game, but still get some at around 60fps. im unsure what id want.

1440. GPU's are going to get stronger and any common 1080 resolution will require more CPU performance to keep the GPU fed with instructions.

yeahim,  thinking this monitor would last me a little longer in satisfaction too when i do someday upgrade gpu.

I'd go 4k 60hz but that's just me...

1440p is nice if you want more screen space, for the money it certainly isn't bad. Best for the long haul to get 1440p, though naturally you're basically locked to nvidia GPUs for as long as you have the display.

i think ill do it, if i ever want a amd gpu ill sell it and get a free sync,
