i am at a road block and cant think where i may have gone wrong.

i have

AMD A10 9700 APU

8 GB DDR4 RAM (1 dim)

GTX1060

250GB m.2 SSD

For some reason i can't seem to be able to get my gaming preformance any higher than 30-35fps on any of my currents games )none of which are AAA titles)

Please can someone tell me what is causing this severe bottle neck

Any chance you set your framerate cap to 30-35...?

It could be a CPU problem

probably a cpu bottleneck

What games do you play? I can attest to the poor performance of an APU, so it may be that.

Maybe it is because of a little bit of bottle necking. I say this because the AMD A10 is on the older side of CPU's. Yes you could say that the gtx 1060 is also older but not old enough. I would say to upgrade you're CPU to a intel I3 or I5 is you have the money or if you want to stick with AMD then get the ryzen 5

the amd a10 is basically just an excavator die stuck into a am4 socket with an apu, so will be a bottleneck likely

the ram is  in single channel.  but a i dont  think that affect so much

disable the apu igpu on bios

test again  on some  sintetic benchmark  use for example userbenchmark   it will be fast

if that dont work

use ddu to uninstal the amd apu driver and the one of the 1060 and grab one that work from nvidia driver page

reinstall  and test again see if cables are fine maybe the power is failling  on the gtx 1060

see if the temp are ok   the cpu maybe is throttling or the gpu

what psu do you have?

if you can test the gpu with a friend you can see if the card  is fine

The A10-9700 is on the 'Bristol Ridge' architecture, which is based on the older 'Bulldozer'/'Excavator' design (used on AM3+/FM2+), though it uses the AM4 socket.

The CPU will have some bottleneck effect the GTX 1060, but not to the point where it will be capped at 30 ~ 35 FPS on older, or not as demanding games.

@eddycuss

Can you tell us what game(s) are you trying to run?

What motherboard (make and model) do you have?

Did you install all the necessary SATA/chipset/audio/USB drivers for your motherboard?

Is your Operating System (Windows 10 I'm assuming) all up-to-date?

EDIT:

Sorry, just clicked on your profile, and saw you listed additional system information there.
