can i install a gpu on a prebuilt tower?

Check if you have the necessary power connectors. If so then there's nothing stopping you from adding a GPU to the system.

Crystal: CPU: i7 7700K | Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix Z270F | RAM: GSkill 16 GB@3200MHz | GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti FE | Case: Corsair Crystal 570X (black) | PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 1000W | Monitor: Asus VG248QE 24"

Laptop: Dell XPS 13 9370 | CPU: i5 10510U | RAM: 16 GB

Server: CPU: i5 4690k | RAM: 16 GB | Case: Corsair Graphite 760T White | Storage: 19 TB

yes you can. things to keep in mind is power draw of the new gpu, can the pre-built psu connect to it and have enough juice for it. Will the card fit in the case. does the case have good air flow, if not you may want a blower style gpu or go with a lower heat producing gpu, you do not want to put a big gpu that will produce to much heat if your case cant get rid of that heat. And last make sure you are picking the right GPU for bottle neck, do not get a gtx 1080 for a 2007 core 2 duo.

main system build --> i7-7700K (at 5.0 ghz), MSI Z270 SLI Motherboard, corsair vengeance lpx 8gb ddr4 2666mhz,  costume liquid cooling loop with 360 mm radiator on CPU, GTX 1080 gigabyte windforce OC, 1TB WD drive, 128 gb samsung nvme m.2, EVGA 850 watt semi modular power supply, CM storm stryker case (ya not ideal for costume loop), VIOTEK GN34C 34 inch curved monitor <----

Yes, provided the PSU is good enough to facilitate it. If not, you'll need a new PSU, then it'll work, barring any stupid proprietary fittings it has like for example some Dell towers have.

some cheapo prebuilts dont have PCIe lanes so that should also be available
