Newegg or amazon

RonaldMcDank120

I'm doing a new build I already bought my i5 8600k and have my part list, with black Friday and Cyber Monday coming up I want to save money. I also want to keep it on one website, what do you guys think will have better savings amazon or newegg?

Also, I have amazon prime if that will make any difference.

amazon prime will allow you to get things quicker, but in terms of each, it kinda depends. They both have deals on items but could be different parts and different times. So i guess go with the one that has the best deals on the products you want at the time?

I feel like newegg might have better deals on parts but then for accessories, I should use amazon.

Use PCPP to get the better pricing and then see if there is any shipping involved. After that, go with the least expensive option.

If you really want to save money, you don't go in with a parts list, you look at what's on sale and make a build from that.

I wouldn't shop from any one site. You won't get the best deals that way. I find NCIX usually has the best, Amazon isn't bad, check out Fry's too, they had some awesome sales last year. The NewEgg Black Friday flyer is already out if you want to Google for that and take a gander at what they have. I know one highlight was a 5TB HDD for $120, $280 off.

One other thing to keep in mind is sales tax. Amazon charges sales tax in nearly every state, but Newegg only charges it in California, Indiana, New Jersey and Tennessee. (I mean yeah, you're still technically supposed to pay sales tax on online purchases even if the retailer doesn't charge it, but nobody really goes through with it)

Legally, you only have to charge sales tax in states where you have (trying to find the right word) warehouses or property. Amazon has warehouses all over the US while Newegg only has a few clusters of warehouses.
