Need help choosing new CPU, G4560?

So I currently have an AMD A10-7850k, which has served me well, but as Christmas is coming up soon I thought it would be time for an upgrade.

The main problem I have with the A10 is its poor single core performance, especially in games such as HOI4, which I run at 20fps @ full speed.

I am thinking of buying the pentium G4560, as it has very good bang for buck (considering it is £60) and money is a very limiting factor for me.

I also think that i should get the Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H as it would allow me to use my ddr3 that I already have saving me £60.

Questions I have:

1. does the G4560 give a good single core advantage over the A10?

2. Anyone know how it performs in HOI4?

3. is the mobo and ram a good idea?

4. In the PCPartpicker thing I made it says that the mobo might have bios problems and that it wont run kaby lake cpus, is this a problem?

Thanks for any help.

I would NOT recommend using ddr3 even if the motherboard supports it because overtime it WILL damage your cpu memory controller due to the voltage difference

is it not built to be ok with DDR3 though?

If it's supported, I wouldn't worry. It's called "warranty".

your desired CPU isn't a kaby lake thingy, so no.

The G4560 is Kaby

It's not supported by Intel. Sky and Kaby only support DDR3L and DDR4, which use much less power than DDR3

There is no DDR3 memory in their list of supported RAM for that board so a cheap DDR4 kit is recommended.  Also, the G4560 WILL need a bios update to work.  Or at least the Board will need to come to you with the latest BIOS for it to work.

I have HyperX 8gb ddr3 1600 CL9 240 RAM

Will this definitely not work?

also why would companies make ddr3 compatible boards for sky and kabylake if it is incompatable?

It will work, it will just slowly degrade the memory controller

:)

At that price point get something used thats a bit older like a used Ivy Bridge combo or similar. I‘m sure someone can find a good combination but at that pricepoint I wouldn‘t buy new.

Xeon e5649@4.4 GHz on Asus Rampage II Extreme or Gigabyte x58a-OC (whatever I feel like to set up at a time) , 6x4 GB Kingston HyperX 1600, Gainward GTX 670 Phantom, Samsung 840 Evo 240 GB, BeQuiet L8 530W
