New PC Build

Zaexedeon

Hi! So I am trying to build a somewhat budget PC, but am pretty new to this whole community. I looked around all over the interwebs for different parts and what I needed, and got a little list of different parts. My goal is for the total cost to be around $1400, so if I am missing any parts, or what I have chosen is not very good, please reply. Additionally, I am not sure where to get all the wires, or if they come with the parts, so please help me on that too :)

The processor might be a bit overkill, you could slash the price down if you look at i5s. 1050ti 4GB is pretty good for 1080p gaming, if you want to save some money, go for that instead. Scanning over everything, looks like you are ready to go. All the adaptors you need should come with the motherboard/monitor (SATA cables, DP, HDMI etc).

The only thing I can recommend is change the cpu to an i5 8600k or not k model and get a 1080 with the money you saved. I am not sure if all the cables come in the box because I usually get my friend who owns a pc building company to build it for me as I don’t trust myself.

I know the difference between an i9 and an i7 is extremely small, but how much of a difference is there between an i7 and an i5? As I currently have a laptop with an i5, and it runs horribly. (Rocket league with regular graphics setting runs at 20 fps)

Also, is a CPU cooler necessary?

the difference between an i7 and an i9 is HUGE the i9 has so much more cores and its much faster, but you dont need sth that good for gaming.

it depends on wich i5 you have. also laptop cpu's are much slower than desktop cpu's

Between an i7-8700K and i5-8600K you won't notice much difference in games. CPU cooler is necessary. The 8600, 8600K, 8700, and 8700K do NOT come with one. Also, an i3-8100 could probably crush your laptop CPU.

Is this manageable? $1470. Assuming you're mainly gaming, I chose a way superior monitor.

One last thing, what kind of tool kit should I buy to install the parts, and how worried should I be about static?

A normal screw driver and a pair of hands.

If you're worried about static, put the PSU in the case, plug it in (but keep the switch on the back off), and touch the case from time to time.
