What fans to swap in...

Chuck Comet

Just got a Fractal Design Define XL R2. This comes with three stock 140mm fans, but potential placement for seven 140mm fans. I think the stock fans are underpowered/underperforming for my 7700K and 1080ti, so what would you guys recommend as far as performance (with a bend toward quiet) as replacements?

Noctua if you want silence, but if your colour theme ain't brown you need to use Bequiet.

How do the Industrials (black/brown) compare to the traditional (diaper brown)?

Don't think it matters.

You're showing in Holland... do you have any experience with the Alpenfohn fans?

They have a higher max RPM. 2000 or 3000, instead of 1500

I meant with the acoustic signature (as he mentioned Nactua for quiet). By the numbers, they top 41dB versus the much quieter traditionals. I just wondered if that sound level is really bad.

iPPC's are louder and not worth getting if you don't need the extra robust build. Go with the normal noctuas if you want quiet fans. NF-A14's are great.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/
