Intel CPU Bus Speed

Hi everyone,

 

When you look on the specs of a intel CPU, you can see the bus speed. But which bus speed do they mean. Do they mean the front side bus?

Like it says right there, it's 8GT/s DMI3, ie. between the CPU and the mobo chipset.

Speed between the hardware with itself, others in the same computing device, and other computers.

In a short answer, yes. Bus speed is how fast buses can communicate and transfer data when regarding each other.

The DMI bus is the link that connects the cpu to the PCH/chipset. The PCH is what manages your SATA and ethernet, among other things. It also has 20 pcie lanes alloted to it. 

For all intents and purposes, you don't need to care about bus speed.
