Hello, LTT community! I'm never sure how to start off these posts so let's dive right in,  shall we?

I built a ryzen 5 computer a few months ago and it's running great except for one thing.  Whenever I try to play most AAA- level games, the game will crash about a minute in. Afterwards when I relaunch, the game stays stable for hours of playtime. This is a widespread problem, and effected games range from Shadow of Mordor in Steam, R6 Siege in uPlay, and Destiny 2 in Blizzard App, so it's not linked to any service, and will happen to games on either my ssd or my hdd. Problem subsists after cpu swap, mobo swap, chassis swap. Haven't tested gpu swap yet, will soon.

So I know the hardware isn't a factor (unless it's gpu) and I thought the only possibility is a software bug. Are there any background programs (GeForce experience etc) that commonly have this problem,  or do you have any tips for diagnosis?

TL;DR: Games keep crashing, it's not a hardware bug, any solutions?

GeForce experience (3.0) is a piece of shit IMO, but it shouldn't cause those problems. Try reinstalling windows, and then slowly reinstall the programs you want/like, and see if any of them trigger the problem.

it might also just be a weird windows quirk that you will never ever be able to reproduce ever again.

odd. Only the 3 borderland games crash randomly after 10 minutes randomly for me, and i don't know why.

It could be some sort of code error.

try updating c++ https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads

Try modifying the GPU's (or APU's) rendering settings (not the games settings) large.f061f44c0a71aa72613b155197f34caf.pImage6_CCC.pnghdg_rotationsettings.jpg

try checking Nvidia, AMD, or Intel for the latest GPU/APU updates.

Check your MOTHERBOARD providers site for Board and chipset updates.

for an example, here's the official updates for my motherboard. https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/support/Z97-GD65-GAMING.html

The games might be crashing due to errors created by an outdated chipset.

RISKY: If all else fails, you might need an motherboard BIOS Firmware update. you might have a version that is from launch date with bugs that might be crashing your games.

If your system is overclocked, try upping the CPU voltage just one level up and see if that helps stability.  Also check that your components are properly seated and all cables are firmly attached/try reseating RAM and trying with one stick at a time, in different RAM slots.
