Hello , i am a video editor and a gamer . i am building my own machine for the same . i have a budget for 4000$ and want to build a solid machine which can last long for my domain .

List of parts till now

1. intel 8700k

2.corsair vengeance 16* 2 gb ram (32 gb) 3200hz

3.Corsair Hydro SeriesTM H100i V2 Extreme Performance 240MM Liquid CPU Cooler

4. AsusRog Strix 370-E Motherboard

5. samsung 850 Evo 1TB

6. acer predator x34 monitor

7. zotac 1080ti gddr5 11gb amp extreme

8. corasir crystal series 570 x case

9 seasonic X 850 Smps -x series 850 watt 80 plus gold

I have few questions

1. for the budget i have is my cpu selection worth it ?

2. i have a conflict about motherboard between asusrog strix 370e and msi 370 gaming pro carbon ac , which should i go for and why ?

3. storage is vital for editing process , kindly suggest the best combination for storage and speedy access with the data and how to manage the two for maximum output ?

4. There are several open fan type of gtx 1080ti from different manufacturer which is best ...?

5. if i have plans to further increase my graphics cards in future , is my power supply good enough ?

6. what do u suggest which case can give this kind of rig its form factor ?

7. how can i overclock the processor to 5ghz ?

Thank you for all your input .

if u can suggest a better rig configuration it will be helpful.

That machine will do it! If you're doing a significant amount of gaming, that CPU will be better than say something on the X299 lineup. Those are great for heavy multi-tasking but fairly poor at gaming (low clockspeeds, and worse IPC as they are based off of older gen CPUs).

It's been years since I owned an Asus board and I got the new STRIX Z370-I board and couldn't be more happy. Rock solid and looks GREAT. While I am not a video editor or producer by any means, I do know that from a hardware standpoint, anything that you are fetching frequently such as OS, software, etc should go on the fastest drive possible (reduce loading times). Put it on a reliable NMVe drive. Not all of us can afford to get MASSIVE NMVe drives for all of our storage, so get one of those for programs and OS and use SSD or HDD for storing video and sound files. These files are likely utilized less and would take up space on the precious high speed drives.

I like EVGA for their 24/7 service. You speak to someone who is very knowledgable and doesn't have garbled audio. I have used them 2-3 times for "false alarm" technical support and they were amazing. They also have the 90 day Step Up program. That PSU is more than enough for your build. You could even go with a 650w or 750w.

Put it all in PCpartpicker and find a case that way! Totally up to you :)

For overclocking, I HIGHLY recommend getting that water cooler or even the arguably better H115. These chips run HOT, especially overclocked and running at 100% load. YOu may also want to consider delidding to push it even farther.

Yes, for gaming and content creation the 8700K is very solid.

I would go with whichever you like more, they are both pretty solid boards.

I would go with a couple HDDs and then a smaller M.2 SSD

Zotac 1080Ti has pretty bad VRM from what I've heard so I would stay away from it.

If you plan to add a second GPU I would go for a 1000 watt PSU so you have headroom, especially with overclocks.

I would go with a full ATX case if you have the room. You can certainly fit the build in a mid-tower but it might be a bit cramped.

You'll need some really good cooling to make sure you can get close to the 5GHz mark. There is no guarantee you'll hit it but you can usually get to around 4.8 or 4.9 without issue on good cooling solution.

Some suggestions:

Thats pretty much the build you suggested. I think something with more threads might be worth it in your use case. Like a 10-core i9 CPU with quad-channel memory.

Hi,

I would change the videocard to Asus gtx 1080 ti strix oc becouse, you can sinc the rgb light's with your mobo.

The powersupply is a way overkill :P you should choose the 650 watt with a gold certification. (If you are not considering sli)
