Should I go with an AMD card to take advantage of the Freesync? IS the price difference worth it? Also, will there even be screen tearing at 144hz?

Screen tearing will appear when you get more fps than your monitor's refresh rate, however it being noticeable solely depends on how immersed you are in the game

at 144hz screen tear isn't that noticeable.

I don't see why not getting a free-sync panel and taking advantage of it.

Even wth 500 Hz  you would have Screen tearing, as long GPU + Monitor are NOT in Sync (no matter how much fps).

But the higher the Hz, the less Tearing will be visible. ^^

At 144 Hz, it's already quite okay, but you can still see it (more or less, depending on Game / Engine).

Freesync / G-Sync WILL smoothen that out.

So yea, i would make use of Freesync.

Wait a few more weeks, and go for a decent Custom Vega 56, that will be a quite nice sweet spot there.

Course you should take advantage of free-sync

it's only $260 for an 8GB RX 580, not sure on how well it's cooler works though, is likely fine

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?
