iPhone X Question on unlock

Ok so here’s a question I have on the iPhone x 

 

inst it a normal thing to quickly pull your phone out your pocket and most phones turn display on itself if not you press the power button to Look at the time yes ... right hang on a minute 5e iPhone x unlocks as soon as you look at it ... WAIT SO If I’m in public and someone asks for time I can’t even look without unlocking then ? What

Cant you just press the power button to turn the display on and show the person the time?

or you ignore them and say you dont have awatch and phone is dead

The screen wakes on tap or tilt. It unlocks, but you still need to swipe up.

Oh lol, I didn't read it properly. Does it really matter if it unlocks? Just look in the top corner for the time

So if it unlocks just press the power button again or wait for auto turn off and it locks ? Because on my iPhone it don’t lock straightaway after leaving auto off it stays unlocked for a bit

I guess so but it’s kinda mmm just if idk someone takes it off you or somth

Touch the screen or hit the power button to turn on the screen. The phone will unlock if you look at it but in order to get off the lock screen you have to swipe up, it’s not automatic.

This isn't a problem. Take X out of pocket, screen wakes up because of raise to wake, you look at time, X unlocks and then put back into your pocket where it locks itself again...
