Help Needed | 5.1 Surround Sound

PeepPeepPeep

Hey,

I own a LG HB906TA ( http://www.lg.com/ca_en/home-theater-systems/lg-HB906TA ) and the blu-ray player/receiver died. I still want to use the speakers. I was kinda hoping to just plug them all directly into my motherboard ( https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VII_HERO/ ). The speakers connect with the bare 2 prong wires which are causing me the largest headaches, it seems like there aren't a lot of receivers that use this anymore and cables which go from that to 3.5mm are pretty limited or super expensive (I also don't know if that would even work).

I'm not much of a TV and Audio person, if there is a way for me to still use my speakers in a 5.1 surround setup that isn't going to break the bank I would love to hear some solutions. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm pretty disappointing that this died.

Thank you <3

If it's two bare wires, (usually red & black), you need a 5.1 receiver, such as this: https://www.amazon.com/Channel-Bluetooth-Digital-Amplifier-Display/dp/B07477F2TL/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1510199048&sr=1-4&keywords=5.1+receiver

Then you have to plug in the sound & stuff to the receiver from your motherboard, but I don't have the same connectors as you, I have an optical audio port which is 5.1, so i just use that.

This was the device that all of the speakers plugged into correct?

Then jwh_ is correct you will need a new receiver/amplifier.

The problem isn't the connections is the power. The 3.5mm jack has no where near enough power to drive any of those speakers. You need the receiver to amplify the signal and power the speakers.
