3440x1440 34inch vs 2560x1440 27inch

ryankirby4

So currently I have 29 inch LG ultrawide 2560x1080 75hz IPS LG monitor that I really like but am thinking about upgrading to 1440. I really like the Ultrawide experience I currently have, but 34 inches sounds like it might be a little too much screen for the GPU to handle for a good refresh rate I'm also thinking about getting  (thinking vega 64, 1070ti, or 1080). So I was wondering what would be better, the 34 inch ultrawide or the 27inch with a higher refresh rate (currently looking at the pixio px347c prime vs the new pixio px277 both are on sale on newegg). The main purpose of my PC is gaming with some light CAD for schoolwork. Ive attached the link to the two monitors. Thanks for the input!

Actual physical screen size doesn't matter when it comes to performance, only the amount of pixels in the panel.

I'd get the 27" with a higher refresh rate. A 16:9 1440p screen probably requires a GTX 1080/ti to take full advantage of a refresh rate higher than 60hz.

Main rig:

• Ryzen 3600X • X370 Killer SLI • 16GB Corsair LPX 3200Mhz • Strix 1070ti • Define R5 • SuperNova 750 G2 • Evo 1TB + X300 4TB •

Secondary rig:

• Acer prebuilt • Rzyen 1700X (upgraded) • OEM 1060 3GB • 256GB SSD + 1TB Seagate (upgraded) •

As an ultrawide lover myself it isn't worth it go from a 2560x1080p 29 inches to a 2560x1440p 27inches, returning to 16:9 is such a deal breaker after you got used to 21:9 you'll hate having square screens again.

Would get the 3440x1440p ultrawide any day, image quality > refresh rate to me personally as well.

Besides don't worry about GPU too much (would avoid Vega because it sucks regardless) but any thing should do fine enough at the resolution if you're cool with lower settings, watch the following video:

The only question is do u want more workspace or do u want better gaming experience aka Refresh rate ?

For gaming go with 27” 1440p 16:9 and get 1080.

I have an ultrawide (3440x1440. 34in) for school and gaming, and I love it. I have a 6700k/1070 and can play all games with no worries at pretty much the highest settings. The productivity boost with the ability to have two full windows tabs open is also very very nice. I have the Acer CZ340CK. Not sure if its sold anywhere else besides Microcenter, but that is where I got mine and I love it. Would totally recommend.

Good to know, I have the same specs for my own computer and juts bought the Pixio PX347c Prime at 3440x1440.

let me know which Pixio you decide to get and your experience.  I just got ordered the Pixio PX347c Prime and should be getting it Monday.  I praying the display is perfect condition with not dead pixels or anything.  I will say before even using the monitor the stand for the Prime looks to be the Achilles heel since it has very little motion and has no Vesa mounts.
