Okay, I might be in the completely wrong section here, but photography and videography seems relatable to PNG files ye?

Problem I have is this.

My dear sister, who is far far away right now, she saved ALOT of her photos on one of my external SSDs.

These are important photos for her, she´s a professional photographer and this was some photos of particular importance, that she would preferably keep.

This SSD has from absolutely nowhere gone and gotten itself semi-corrupted.

Some files on it works no problem, most don´t work at all, and a fair bit of them just turn up as 90% corrupted photos.

And I am not very good with this recovery thingy, I´m a hardware guy and that´s it.

I tried googling on PNG corruption recovery, but it all looks to me like veeeery fishy programs that I don´t think I want in my PC.

Anyone know any sweet way of atleast have a small chance of recovering SOME of the photos atleast? Preferably free, but eh, I could go and throw some money at it in worst case.

If the file's header is broken it can be fixed but if somewhere in actuall data some bits are flipped there is no way how to determine which bit is wrong.

Aw, thanks for answer

If the image looks normal until like half way down and then all the colours are off below that though, for example, you might be able to find the problem pixel and play around with adding or removing a bit in that area until it looks right again

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.
