Final rig in post #68

Hi,

I'm looking to invest in a first LTC mining rig and I want to know if these components are a good choice at this point in time (and space). What would be my mining performance ? How can I find how does that translate into payout. I just signed up to wemineltc.com.

Thoughts about mobo, psu, ram ?

yeah, the FX4100 is a FM2 cpu and you have a am3+ socket mobo there. you only need like a crappy dual core cpu and a nice mobo with 4 pcie slots. also 2gb of ram should be enough. also, your hard drive is way to much. psu is good.

EDIT: sorry, im retarded, your cpu is am3+ m(

i recommend something like an AMD A4 APU which is about $55 CAN.

edit:  APUs are good because you can plug the monitor into that while the cards are mining and experience no lag if you have to do other tasks

Main rig: i7 3770K @ 4.54, Sapphire R9 290, Sabertooth Z77, 16 GB Mushkin Redline 2133, Lian Li PC-P50R, Seasonic 860xp Platinum, Kingston Hyper X 3K 240GB

freeNAS server: AMD Athlon II 170u 20W, 5 x 3TB WD Red in raid-z1 (12 TB)

media centre: AMD A10-5700, crucial M4 (boot), running XBMC,4 x 3TB WD Red, 3 x 3TB WD green + 2TB green in FlexRAID (17 TB)

1- It's pretty much the same price for 2 sticks of ram, I'll check again

2- As for the HDD, I wanted a NAS rated drive since it's going to be on 24/7 and that one is kind of the cheapest.

You don't need 4X16 lanes, you can use the risers that convert 16x to 1x because mining only requires that little portion of the card.

I got my risers from here: http://www.hashratestore.com/shop/

And they're based in Canada too!

Looks pretty solid.  You don't need a 3rd party CPU cooler, the stock is fine as the APU/CPU doesn't do anything really, mine never reach 35 C.  You also don't need to put the cards in crossfire.  One minor issue is that there is a vast shortage of R9 280x in North America right now.
