Both should perform the same. Would choose the Gigabyte one since I like Windforce better. But choose the one that's a better deal (i.e. lower price tag).

If you're talking about the MSI 4G that's single fan and not the GAMING 4G, then the Gigabyte OC is better due to the better cooler with dual fans and slightly higher base clock.

Did a bit of research on the cards, the Msi is generally found to be better, cooling doesn’t really matter as temps on these cards stay relatively low

If you're willing to overclock them yourself, whichever has the better cooler

Yes i agree and if you have some extra budget go for a 1060 6GB.

cooling is the most important factor for Pascal, it determines how stable the clocks will be.

Yes, but cooling matters much more for a 250 watt card than for a 75 watt card.

much more sure, but just because these are lower TDP cards doesn't remove the concern completely. you still want the coolest running because that will get you the highest stable clock. but at this level final clocks will probably come down to the silicon lottery more then anything else.
