So, i just built another computer and tried to boot it off my Windows 10 hard drive. It just stayed at the Windows logo, the loading wheel did not even show up. I thought, ok, maybe it has to be installed from a CD/USB. I l put in my Windows 10 thumb drive USB and loaded it up. Same result. I was flustered but I went on to try my Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CD/DVD drive and it booted and installed absolutely fine. Except it did not have the drivers for my ethernet device so i was unable to install the driver or go online. Anyways i tried installing Windows 10 by putting in my Win 10 thumb drive and double clicking setup. It loaded and eventually came up with the error CompareExchange128. Also, it could boot to my other Windows 10 32bit hard drive. Since my CPU is 64bit, what is going on here? Also, i managed to run Windows 10 64bit with the same motherboard but a different CPU (Core 2 Quad Q9300) last time.

i also tried the x5450 to boot to my win10 hdd and same result, thought it was because chip is above mobo tdp. Both chips caused the mobo to give me an error of too high tdp. The e5450 is incorrect in this case. I did the 771 775 mod but I did not add cpu microcode so should I do that first?

Specs:

Intel Xeon E5450 (oc 3.2ghz)

Biostar G41D3C motherboard

2 x 4GB SK Hynix DDR3-1600 modules

MSI GeForce 210

WD 320GB 2.5' hard drive (current windows 7 hdd i installed)

Toshiba 640GB 2.5' hard drive (failed Win10 hdd, previously was fine with a different CPU)

SanDisk Cruzer (Win 10 USB)

Sony DVD drive (drive i put the win 7 CD/DVD to install successfully)

Seasonic SS430 PSU

How old is your Windows 10 - installer? Also, have you checked if you have the latest BIOS installed?
