The speeds are fine with other devices

Maybe your other devices are operating on the 5 GHz band? Almost everything ships with a 5 GHz radio nowadays.

You could try changing your router to a less crowded 2.4 GHz channel, see if that makes a difference.

Use an app like "WiFi analyzer" for android to see on what channels other networks are operating. Stick to one of the non-overlapping channels (1,6 or 11) if possible.

Recently my WI-FI has been extremely slow even though I have Shaw 150. I only hit 500kb - 2mb per second (I used fast.com to test my internet speed. When I start it spikes up then back down.). I tried restarting the modem but that did not work so I tried to reset the WI-FI settings and reinstalling drivers but none of it worked. I also tried doing a hardware check-up (said my wifi card passed) and optimizing using Dell Support Assist but still did not work. I'm using a Dell Inspiron 3542 and it is using a Dell Wireless 1704 802.11b|g|n (2.4GHZ). This laptop is 4 years old.

still very odd

anything notable happen before the issue started? was there a big windows update?

I noticed my WI-FI was slightly slower than usual but not as bad as now. There hasn't been a big windows update for a quite a while.

ask your isp why it has not begun using ip6(been in netsh for years now)

goto router and unplug

open cmd prompt

netsh winsock reset

reboot

replug router in

retest wifi speed
