Resisting the urge to answer sarcastically, it's a fairly large jump.

Screen sizes are measured by diagonal.

2x diagonal = 4x the area, assuming the screens are the same aspect ratio.

Tape 4 sheets of A4 together to make a big piece of paper. Then draw a rectangle that's 288mm x 510mm. That is the screen size.

Take any regular sheets of paper and tape them together to make a bigger piece of paper.

Then take a ruler. Draw one line that is 288mm or 11.33inches long. That is the height of a 24" screen.

Draw a second line perpendicular to the first, 510mm or 20.08inches long. That is the width of a 24" screen.

Use a ruler or a measuring tape, like a person would.

IMO 21.5” is the sweet spot for 1080p. My work iMac and PC both have that sized screen, and it’s awesome. 27” is too big (I have one of those as a secondary, it’s decent, but a 21.5-2”  is much better. And 24” can be a bit less than crisp, though it also depends on the display quality and all.
