So I'm going for my first build and I want to know if I picked alright stuff and if I should revise anything. My budget is >$1000 without peripherals. I plan on using this just for gaming and light video editing in the future.

Yea your all good but a recommendation would be to get a 1050ti instead of that 1060 3GB or go for the 6GB version if you can afford. I say this because ice heard its not worth the extra 50 dollars for the 3gb modle of the 1060 rather than the 1050ti

psu is eh, mobo is eh, and you should try to get an ssd.

For PSU I recommend a corsair cx/cxm grey sticker unit, and for mobo look for ones like the pro4, prime plus, and b350 f gaming.

1600+mobo without vrm heatsinks isn't the best idea, and psu is eh.

yeah it'd probably be better to save in other areas of the build besides the cpu and video card. Thanks for the reply.

Yeah I don't really know the difference between m.2 memory and 2.5" so I just went with one.

just different form factors, m.2 is only faster if the SSD used supports NVMe protocols.

Thanks for your help. I really don't want to go over $1000 because I still need to get a monitor but I would rather invest more in better parts than go for the super cheap options so that they'll be better for longer. What I want is to build this and not have to change anything out for at least a few years. That being said I don't care about aesthetics and I'm not going for top of the line stuff.

The only concern I have with this list is whether or not the stock cooler that the 1600 comes with is sufficient. I don't plan on doing any overclocking.

The cooler is good enough to overclock with so it should be more than fine at stock clocks.

Alright thanks. In your opinion is it worth the extra $$$ to get the 1600x. In which case I'd also have to buy a cooler.

You would be better off doing a slight oc of the 1600. You should be able to overclock it to the 1600x clock speeds with the cooler it comes with. I mean my 1700 overclocked to 3.7 on all cores on a crap board with a super low voltage of 1.25v
