Forum rank idea?

Go to solution Solved by Volbet,

But isnt that in a more general area?

The reason I think my idea would be cool because for example someone might be asking for some really nice headphones and some user can just point them to another user who has something like this:

*Insert username*

Audio Expert

And that user can help him resolve the issue much faster.

Well, to go from your example, we do have a trusted advisor in audio and he is probably better at answering audio questions then most users. As far as I know the "Trusted Advisor" badge is awarded to people who have shown themself to be knowledgeable within certain areas. Like @looney is trusted with storage questions, @Ghost is trusted with watercooling question ect. If someone asked a really hard question In the watercooling section, and I wasn't able to answer it, I would make sure Ghost would see it, becuase he have shown himself to know a lot about the subject.

I just had an idea. So you know the "Computer Hardware" part of the forum right?(Audio,Display,Peripherals,CPUs,GPUs,PSUs, etc. etc.)

What if for every problem that a user solves(so OP marks his/her post as solved) in a post in any of these categories, he gets 1 point. And once those points add up he could get a rank. So under his name he will have a rank for example:

Freddy123

Peripherals expert

This would only work well with the "computer Hardware" categories, because I mean come on, it would be silly to be called an "Off-Topic expert" :P

What do you guys think?

Isn't that what the "Trustred Advisor" badge is for? It doesn't work in the way you described, but serves the same purpose.

Having Best Answer marks counted in somewhere would be great but its really not good way of determining whos actual expert. Why? Because sometimes people mark themselves as best answer. Or mark someone with funniest answer.
