Is the fan loud as in it is just spinning really fast or is it more of a grinding sound?

The failsafe for a failed thermally controlled fan circuit is for the fan to run full speed at all times.

RMA the PSU.

Return Merchandise Authorization. If it's less than 3 months old it's under warranty. Contact Corsair or maybe even the shop (depending on processes and procedures in your country) and get a replacement for your defective product. It should not be running full speed all the time like that.

And you can't go back to the shop to see if they have a copy of the receipt they can make for you?

that's typical for a blown fan controller.

More modern ones are designed so that some critial components fail short wich means that fan will run at 100% - so you know the fan controller is blown.

You don't, you RMA the PSU because it still has warranty.

Contact corsair, AFAIR a receit is all you need, Box not neccessarily.

Great!

You only need the receipt.  I know I never keep my boxes.  :D
