Dead Radeon 6870?

Change the paste and clean it up. If not then you could try re-flowing(Put in an oven for a bit) it for fun but its probably gone. I remember years ago now, I had a GT6800XT in my NAS/Home PC it started with what I saw as purple lines, it then would get as far as the curser on the windows XP boot and then just die....Took me quite a while to trouble shoot that system too as there was not igpu.

Ok so about a year ago I bought a Radeon had 6870 second hand, and all though it had weird green lines on the screen when I first got it, those went away once installing the drivers... 

fast forward 1 year and it just stops working- every time I boot it, it is just a black screen, and the fan speeds up and slows down... and it gets really HOT. Is it dead? Oh booting in safe mode works but if you try to install any drivers or anything it returns to the black screen.... I have a new GTX 1050 now in my main rig but would like to get it working again for a second pc.

Disassemble the card, fully clean the fans and heatsink, repaste and reassemble. Still dead means RIP.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Yea both my pcs don't have integrated
