Displayport over USB-C

A colleague wanted an external screen for his laptop, so he got an ASUS MB169C+:https://www.asus.com/us/Monitors/MB169C-plus/

 

His laptop (HP EliteBook 820 G3) has an USB-C port, however.. it's not "Displayport alternate" capable. He does however have a Displayport right next to the USB-C port.

 

Is there any way he can use the external screen we bought for him? An adapter or anything similar?

CPU: i7 5930k @ 4.5 GHz ~  Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth X99 ~ GFX: Inno3D iChiLL GeForce GTX 1080 X3 ~ RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (4x8GB) 3000MHz

SSD: Samsung 950 Pro 512GB M.2 ~ PSU: Corsair HX1200i ~ CPU Cooler: Corsair H110i GTX ~ Screen: Samsung 32" S32D850T ** ~ Storage: Seagate Ironwolf 8TB + 24TB NAS 

** waiting for a good 40ish inch G-sync screen

Sadly that won't work either, it's the "wrong way".

Mmm, TBH I have no experience with the USB-C so I haven't realised this, but looking at it, yeah, you're right.
