So I just did a firmware update through Netgear Guinie and it killed my internet connection. After my own troubleshooting, I talked to their technical help line and troubleshot it with them They finally just said that the issue was the firmware update and that they would be sending me a new router mind you my router is only 7 months old and they confirm that it was the firmware update that killed my router!!!!! has anybody heard of this out there cant find anything! Crazy to think they would leave a firmware update available that they know kills routers.!!!  BE CAREFULL

There is always a risk with any firmware update for it to end badly. Even ones released directly by the manufactures of the router. Generally as long as you follow the best practices when performing the update your ok. Which are only using an Ethernet Connection for updating, Resetting your router to factory defaults before updating and following any instructions they give you. 

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

what do you mean by killed can you get to routers setup screen? 

or is it red lighted
