2K Gaming build almost finished.

So I'm going to play AAA titles in 1440p resolution with a 144 hertz refresh rate, I've spent all day on this build asking questions and what not and I think I'm almost done, any improvements/changes I can make to make it cheaper without sacrificing quality? I'm not interested in over clocking anything and I want this to last as long as possible. This will be used for recording gameplay (hense the 2 3T HDDs) and playing games, that's all. Thanks guys.

You should get an SSD if possible. Helps speed the system along quite nicely.

 

Also, if you've already got the 8700 I'd recommend you go the extra step and make it an 8700k.

I already have an SSD, so I didn't bother to include it. And yeah, 8700K is a better choice, thanks for pointing that out.

Just so you know the Dark Rock Pro 3 is like the hardest cooler to put on, also you may have a problem with RAM compatibility because of the cooler. The Vengeance RGB RAM is quite tall.

Yeah, I had that problem last time and had to take off the casing of the RAM to get it to fit. Lol. I didn't think of that being a problem this time though. Which cooler would you recommend?

AIO cooling would probably be the easiest.

As @bob51zhang says an aio would be the easiest solution. But if it has to be an air tower something like the Cryorig H7 or NH-U12 would have not issues with taller memory modules. They are not as good as the Dark Rock Pro 3 but do a decent job.

 

An alternative would be changing memory kits. Consider getting Corsair Vengeance LPX modules instead of the RGB version.

Cryorig R1 Universal has the same cooling power and is super easy to instal with zero RAM clearance issues

The R1 Universal is offset 5mm to the left and includes a slim front fan vs the R1 Ultimate. I use the R1 Universal to cool my OC'ed R7 1700 and get better thermals than the Cooler Master Master Liquid Pro 240 AIO I had previously. Also as I only have 2 of my RAM slots filled I was able to put Corsair ML120 fans on and have legit like 2mm of clearance between the front fan and the RAM.

Do you know if it has any issues with motherboards that have a shroud over the rear i/o block or tall heatsinks?

My Asus X370 Crosshair VI Hero has a shroud over the rear IO and a tall VRM heatsink, I have no issues with clearance. It's more of a question of whether or not your case will fit it.

I know you like your black & orange, but really you should get an open-styled cooler for GPU with a case that big.
 

All gigabyte cards should be pretty good, some I found were the AORUS Extreme, AORUS, and OC Version. All of these 3 should perform basically the same.

How big of a deal is it if I don't? Do the 3 additional 140mm fans help it from overheating?

I mean, it kinda does, but not really. 

 

An open style cooler takes the heat off the GPU and shoves it into the rest of the case, where case fans can help eject heat. 

Although if you watch Luke's video on amount of case fans, you'll know 2 case fans usually do the job just fine.

 

A blower style cooler basically tries to take the air already inside the case and tries to run it through the cooler with the one fan it has and ejects it outside. The 3 case fans just basically put cool air into the case, but the amount of air passing through the GPU is still limited by the GPU fan.

I switched my GPU to this and lost the 3 additional fans as well as changed the mobo to something a bit cheaper and sightly upgraded the RAM. As long as I don't need to upgrade the CPU, I'm good.

Not a fan of the cpu cooler. Also, its fan overhangs the first memory slot which means the Ripjaws V are not optimal. You might consider the Cryorig H7 which is not much more expensive.

 

Other than that, it's a decent build.
