I need a cheap but reliable wireless combo to control my PC which also is my HTPC in my bedroom from my bed for convenience, is the range on it decent enough? won't be trying to play cs:go on it or any thing just need to know if it can range the fair distance from the computer to my bed and if I throw alkaline batteries on it should live long enough not to be annoying.

Replaced the K400 w/ this set. I had range issues w/ the dongle only when it was immediately near other devices. After using a 2ft extension to get it a short distance away, it works from the bed and I haven't needed to change batteries in 3 months.

 

Edit: Still using the batteries it came with.

That is very nice to learn about, in the case I'd like having the alternative to put the receptor on one of the usb on the back... here's a picture for reference:

Do you think it could interfere much? there is sufficient spacing on the back of the case and wall for cooling purposes.
