Why am i getting these emails

lets say my personal email is MYNAME@GMAIL.COM

however i have been receiving emails to my inbox which are addressed to MY.NAME@GMAIL.COM - the difference is the dot in between MY and NAME

 

these emails dont pertain to me at all - its a receipt from Just Eats UK for a pizza ordered on Dec 10 2017....so its post dated and it says its been pre-paid with a visa card and going to an address in the UK

im in canada....and have never used this service, i tried talking to the official customer service rep at Just Eats and they have no idea...

 

im okay with just blocking the sender but my question is - why am i even receiving these emails that are not addressed to my exact email address??

I have had numerous dodgy emails received on my yahoo accounts from supposed online pharmacies. But google spam filters are quite good in comparison, haven't had any utter trash email since I switched. I'd just contact google, if its a big problem they will sort it.
