RX Vega 64 w/ FreeSync VS 1080TI w/o GSync

WILLFC

Hi Guys,

I'm not looking to pay the premium that comes along with a G-Sync monitor but was planning on buying a 1080TI, would It be better to grab a Vega 64 compatible with my FreeSync Monitor. Considering the fact that the Vega 64 is also about 400 Australian Dollars cheaper aswell. For reference I plan on running two 1440p 144hz monitors.

Thanks in advance, I appreciate any opinions.

Get the Vega GPU then, if it's that much cheaper and you already have a good FreeSync monitor, I don't see a reason for going 1080Ti ;)

1.) There is no point in getting Vega 64 when Vega 56 performs almost identically

2.) GTX 1080ti is quite a bit better for 1440p 144Hz but is more expensive

3.) If you are on lower budget then definitely Vega 56 + Free-Sync makes a lot of sense but if you can go for it then 1080 ti + G-Sync will give you quite a bit better experience, whether it is something you can throw your money on, that's up to you to decide

EDIT:

4.) If you already have the Free-Sync monitor, then Vega 56 makes a lot more sense for the money but if you plan on getting another monitor anyway... well, if you will pick G-Sync with 1080 ti it sure will work as well.

You could still use Fast Sync with the 1080 Ti... for gaming the nVidia offering will provide more frames per second it is a fact... aside forza 7 with 8x msaa... but if you want to go Vega 64 for the free sync that'd work fine enough by all means.

Gsync/Freesync > Fast Sync big time, in fact i prefer Vsync over Fast Sync now.

If 1080 Ti gave you >144fps minimum while Vega was below that, or 1080 Ti gave you >72fps minimum while Vega was below that, then the 1080Ti would be fast enough to make up for the lack of adaptive sync by using Vsync. It typically isn't, but might be in some cases. Or if you don't care about screen tearing at all, just turn vsync off and use 1080Ti
