No SSD and 4GB RAM will be limiting to say the least. Having said that finding anything much better for $220 will be a struggle. Keep your expectations low when it comes to the video editing, but as far as web browsing is concerned you'll be fine and dandy

Forget video editing with this. Every edit will take a while to load which is annoying.

For paper work  it's not the best either. I would rather have an SSD in there, even if it's a small 120GB one. I guess that's as far as the budget can bring you.

That is a laptop I would get for someone who narrates what they're doing online. (i.e. I'm going to type that in the google.)

But seriously... an excerpt from an Amazon review: ..." I got one of these from Walmart a few weeks back and it runs like a potato. First off, the build quality is terrible! The keyboard feels cheap and the screen is beyond flimsy. If there is a cooling fan, it definitely doesn't cool anything! Not to mention that its hardware seems to be odds and ends that were left over from other models... Secondly, Windows 10 BARELY runs on this device! What I mean is, just starting it up and going onto Firefox or chrome it starts to overheat!?"

do yourself a favor and pick up one of these

I used to own a Chromebook 2 personally, and it's a fantastic device. Super light and small, with excellent build quality, fantastic speakers, and just an overall snappy experience throughout ChromeOS.

I also dual booted Linux on mine, which worked perfectly.

@JackHadrill @Jurrunio @Radium_Angel @Legendarypoet well, do you guys know of any laptops under 300 USD that would be worth taking a look at? And yes, I do have a lot of patience with horrible hardware.

That looks pretty nice, what's the performance like?

In all cerealness, if you want to do video editing... get a bigger budget.

Hate to say it but at $300 you're gonna have a hard time doing anything. Building a desktop with cheaper, second hand parts will give you a bigger performance boost per dollar.

Got it. I'll be using movie maker, not Adobe premiere or Sony Vegas, because I'm too cheap for that. The good news is that I'll be able to do it on anything more powerful than a core 2 duo.

Yeah, look into used laptops, off your local CraigsList. I snagged an i5 with 8gb ram and ssd thinkpad for 125$ a few years ago. Much better than that junk they are shoveling at Wally World.
