My computer keeps shutting down automatically because of overheating, I've had the computer for a few years and never cleaned it out, so I cleaned out all the dust, I wanted to check what the thermals were looking like, but I don't want to download some virus program and wreck my computer, I was wondering if anyone knew of any good programs or anything else I could do other than buying a new fan to keep my computer from overheating. (it's a gaming rig BTW)

HWmonitor is good for checking temps

you can probably change your fan curve in the BIOS or using a motherboard utility

What cooler do you have, what are your specs, and is anything overclocked?
