So the hard died and it's past the warranty. Can I just a get another 2.5" drive and get a oem of windows 7.

For the most part yes, you can just buy a 2.5" drive. Though some machines being very thin, might we limited on drive thickness. Many 2.5" drives are rated for thickness. This is also an opportunity, you can upgrade to an SSD which would be most worth it. 

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Yea thanks for the reminder, not going to waste even more money on this notebook which will be my school driver. I would rather save that money for my future new build once the video card market prices balance out
