Hi everyone,

 

I joined the drop for the HD 6xx on massdrop and I'm looking for an amp and dac now.

I would really like the Magni 3 and the modi 2 from Schiit, but I'm from Germany so I'm looking at a price of 278 USD (Including shipping and customs).

Now my Question: Is there anything equal or better for this price that I could get?

Not sure about getting one since I don't know much about dacs and amps, but the Magni 3 and the Modi 2 sound like pieces of shit, I'd stay away from them.

They are quite good.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

After trying out the HD6XX, I'm surprised that I've had to turn up the volume knob on my Oppo HA1 to get it to loud enough volume......that surprised me as I'd expected it to be more efficient. The HD6xx series would definitely reap some benefit from a decent amp or DAC stack/combo. As Dackzy and spwath had said, Schiit audio gears are pretty good and I've read that they jell nicely with Schiit stuff.

Yes I do know that, but they sell for 260 euros(including shipping) and from the US site they sell for 278 USD which is 235 euros (also including shipping and customs). 

I just wanted to know if they're still worth it for the high price

How are you getting 278$ including customs? The modi 2 is 99$ and the magni 3 is 99 so 198$ and then their shipping which seems to be 50 to  81$ depending on which carrier you pick, are the customs really only taking 30$ or less? 

Also yes they are worth the extra price that they cost here in EU or else they wouldn't be on my list. Also do keep in mind that the package from the US is going to take a while to get to you Vs the EU one.

198$ for the two, 17.5% customs +shipping. The shipping time wouldn't really matter because my HD6xx's arrive in December...

 

(most basic shipping ofc)
