Depends on your resolution and the FPS you want, as well as the processor you are using, but the differences are big enough for Nvidia to slide a 1070TI in them iddle so it's something worth considering.

i have the i7 6700k 1080 p resolution 144hz

For that set up the 1070 should push all the FPS your monitor can handle in Esport games and keep over 60 fps with nice settings in everything else (except weird stuff like flight sims or very badly optimized games).  Unless upgrading your monitor to 1440 or 4k I agree, it's not worth it.

I mean if like 500 dollars is worth a 25npercent performance boost then sure. I'd just stick with the 1070 until Volta in March but hey its your money.

yes? any more explanation why though xD lol

You got a one word answer because you didn't give nearly enough information to make any kind of recommendation.

You didn't provide:

  • The games you play
  • The resolution of your monitor
  • The refresh rate of your monitor
  • The settings you want to achieve

As for worth, that's entirely subjective. We don't know if you make $15,000/yr or $150,000/yr. We don't know if you have other hobbies, or debts to repay. Because of this only you can answer the question of worth.

Was it there when I posted Yes? No, it wasn't. You still haven't answered the rest.

@charbel1011

The 1070 should be able to push 100+ FPS in most titles @ 1080p. Thus, at that resolution, I would say its not necessary for you to upgrade especially to a 1080. With an overclock, depending on your specific card and the silicon lottery you should be able to hit 2000+ Mhz which should put you more or less on par with a stock 1080.

If you are planning to game at a higher resolution in the future or you feel like you are not hitting your desired framerate target, then I would say a 1080ti or a Vega 64 would be a better option as opposed to a 1080.

This is because, the price increase of the 1080 just doesn't justify the slight performance increase, in my opinion.

At least with the 1080ti, you are getting more VRAM.

With a 6700K, you are unlikely to encounter a CPU bottleneck, but your mileage may vary, depending on the specific title you are playing.

Picking a popular choice right now, PUBG, due to lack of optimization, won't really give you the gains you want, even IF you did get a 1080ti, thus specs isn't always everything.
