So with my computer being far away I decided to get 3 USB 3.0 extensions for my keyboard, mouse, and headset. All three pieces of hardware work. For some reason though they can only be read in the two USB ports underneath the Ethernet port. The front panel USBs and the USBs next to my PS2port don't seem to work. Just gives me an error every time... :(

Every time I plug a device with its USB extension into any other usb port except ones of/Ethernet it gives me this.

Any help would be grand.

As you extend a USB connection, the signal gets weaker. Using the front headers is already an extension in of itself.

Okay then but why do only 1/2 of the rear USB headers support it?

The rear USB ports are soldered directly to the board. the front ones have to travel via cable to the motherboard.

I have 4 USB ports on mobo and 2 on front panel. Why do only 2/4 mobo ports work?

Ignore the two on the front. I have 4 on the back of which only 2 seem to work with extensions, can anything be done?

what length of cable did you buy? could be that it's *REALLY* on edge in terms of signal.

USB spec is only meant to reach 5 meters "controller to controller".

5.0 metres USB 3.0
All 3 work with all three hardwear, Signal screws up on the front panel USB and on the USB ports next to my PS2 port. Only keep good signal on my USB ports next to my Ethernet port.

exactly my point. you're REALLY on the edge of what usb is meant to do. provided the devices themselves have cables attached to them as well you're lucky they work at all.

All extensions work. Its the ports on the mobo I expect.

They may just have slightly lower power than the other USB ports that do work.

This isn't an issue with your USB port, this is an issue with you using a cable that's too long or not high enough quality or both.

With cables that long you need to either use a very high quality low gauge cable for the least signal loss possible, or a powered/active repeater cable.

Try updating to the latest USB driver, or maybe try a powered USB 3 hub, if possible. Something like this https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Individual-Switches-included-HB-UMP3/dp/B00TPMEOYM/ref=sr_1_6?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1507581254&sr=1-6&keywords=usb+3+hub+powered Not sure if it will solve your problem, but worth a shot if all else fails.

I'm in the UK. Would you recommend this? https://www.amazon.co.uk/AmazonBasics-4-Port-USB-3-0-Plug/dp/B00E0NH7DQ/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1507583778&sr=8-4&keywords=powered+usb+hub+3.0

That should work just fine. It is powered, so you can also use it with external drives. You may also try using it with one of the extension cables you own, if they are a USB 3.0 cable. If not, pick up one (USB 3.0) in the length you'll need.

Best of luck and do let us know if this solved your issue or not.
