They will be used for fairly cpu intensive games, like infinite worlds not FPS.

7600k is already replaced by 8600k. It's inferior to both 8600k and 1600.

 

Out of the two, 8600k if you can afford it.

The best choices right now are 1600 or 8400. The 8400 it's still solid but as of right now tied to fairly expensive motherboards but that will change quickly and if you can afford it is not like you're spending money on something that's bad on the contrary you leave the door open for better upgrades and such.

 

But yeah stay away from 4 cores for now: even the 8350k would be a better idea if needed be than the 7600k (same basic chip but with a supported platform)
