Just wondering if this a normal idle for an RX480. A while back my mobo seemed to be reporting the wrong temp for CPU, I finally found a program that seems to give good info, but I forgot to follow up with my GPU.

The average system temp is about 37C, it's also cold as hell in this room, 57C seems a bit high to me.

If this isn't normal is there anything I can do to get it cooler?

EDIT: I keep my system clean and it's in a well ventilated area

Could be the GPU's sensor or the GPU might not turn on fans until a threshold temperature beyond what you're getting.

If load temps seem normal it is mostlikely the latter

well you did buy a toaster of a graphics card
xD memes aside
that should be fine if you know your fan are off
stock settings on most gfx card have the fan initially shut off when not in use then ramp up when in use
so manual setting of the fan curve should help if you havent already done so
if you have already done so and its still hot here are some options

take it appart clean and replace thermal paste
make sure you have good air flow in the "case" or environment(inside of the case)
 consider another card

thats all i can really think of

Hey now, it gets the job done...kinda :D

From what I can see on my system, and from what I can see on the card, the fan is running at all times.

Hoping it's a sensor issue, but I'll check it under load. Then probably get ready to redo the thermal paste

at least it's not a 290x

that's efficient when compared to vega ...

If it's anything like how I've got my GTX 970 set up, the fans stay off until it gets to ~60c, then they start picking up gradually as the temperature increases towards 74c where they cap out.

Keeps it silent at idle, and it's a perfectly reasonable temperature. My card is currently sitting at 56c with just the case fans and CPU fan going.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

Radeon Crimson Settings doesn't turn them on until around 60/65c. If youre worried about idle temps, use Afterburner to setup a profile. I keep my RX460 around 34c with a really quiet speed of about 30%. On load I don't let it go above 60c at about 70% fan.

I don't seem to actually have control over any of my fans. I remember coming across this problem when I was having my original temp issues a while back. I'm hoping the card is just reporting the wrong numbers...which seems to be an unfortunate thing about my system. Like speccy thinks my CPU is running at 85C right now, and other programs say 40C lol

There's a cog next to the Fans section in Afterburner. That's for user profiles. Turn off Auto and set the slider to 100%, you should hear the fans kick up. Also, you're gonna want the Beta for AB

You might need to go into settings to enable fan control. It's a tab of it's own, not hard to find

As for the readings...idk. Afterburner tells me all the info I need so I just use that
