Cannot overclock to 1866Hz

Hello,

Recently I've installed a brand new memory, everything works fine on the default settings, but I am unable to overclock the ram into the 1866.

The ram itself is 1866 Hz, but why can't I use it? Is it cos of the fact that my MB drivers could be out of date?

Ram: HyperX Ram 16GB 1866 Hz

PC Specs: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | Nvidia Geforce RTX 3080 12GB | 32x2GB G Skill 3600Mhz | TUF Gaming X570-PLUS

u need to set looser timings when u increase frequencies, u just need to set the proper spd cas timings for the rated 1866mhz

Ah, never like overclocked anything beyond 1366 so, I wouldn't really know much =/

In my experience on my Z75 mobo, memory is very shaky past 1600 Mhz, especially when using different kits. I can only imagine that it's a similar story on H77. Are you running 2 different sticks of RAM? I suspect that installing it in single channel over dual channel would help in reaching higher clocks, although that would reduce overall speed a lot and should only be done when you really, really need low-latency memory.

I am conducting some polls regarding your opinion of large technology companies. I would appreciate your response.

Are you using xmp or just setting frequency?

Try setting the XMP profile. If you're just setting frequency you're not modifying voltage or timings at all which is probably why it's not working.

I'm about 80 percent sure you need to enable XMP. Afaik anything over 1600mhz is considered "overclocked memory" and this needs to enter XMP. Not 100 percent though. Check with other sources.

As it appears to be that I don't have the XMP option, might be because the motherboard that I use is old =/

That makes sense :/

Try setting frequency and the first few timings manually then, as well as ram voltage (so set to 1866 MHz 1.5v and then set the first few timings to 10-11-10)
