Hey guys,

so I am getting the Fractal design Define R4 case today/tomorrow.

I know its coming with 2 vents (front intake and back exhaust), I also already bought another 2 (the same 140mm R2 FD that come with the case) to improve the airflow. Being a silent case, I understand I will loose some of the quietness, but I prefer to have a bit more air.

What are you suggestions of where to put the additional 2 vents? I have 2 ideas, but really not sure about this:

1. 1 as another intake in the front and one as bottom intake (this would mean 3 intakes and only 1 exhaust..)

2. 1 as bottom intake and one as top exhaust (this would mean 2 intakes and 2 exhaust, but would influence sound, since Id be removing sound dampening material from one of top vent positions)

Any other ideas? This is my first build, I have seen numerous threads about different airflows, so any help is really appreciated.

Thanks

2 in front, 1 in back.

Keep positive pressure to help avoid dust build-up as-well as keep temperatures as cool as possible.

The fractal fans are good but not that quiet over time. They start ticking after a few weeks. I have put the two fans that came with the case in the front and bought a bequiet for the back.

So basically 2 front 1 back, which fans is up to you.

who cares...

I had my R4 loaded with 7 fans for giggles and even with sound dampening materials, she got loud when everything was at 12v. :v (stock fans, 1 Noctua 140mm on the side, x2 Phanteks fans in the front, x1 Enermax Magma at the bottom and some a spare 140mm pulled from a Lian Li.)

Gonna plastidip my R4 soon to change it from white to metallic black. Plastidip also aids in sound dampening a bit so this should be even quieter. Also ordered a pink power LED for her, this R4 is going to look mad when I'm done.

You should put 1 fan in the front for intake and an extra fan in the back for exhaust because the PSU should come with a fan for the bottom portion of the case if you put the PSU fan facing down. If you didn't I would get 1 extra fan and put 1 fan in each part of the case the front, the back, and the bottom.
