Well im planing a totally new system with a budget less than 1500usd but i dont know if spending extra cash for a 1440p monitor and a gpu is worth it.

$1500 PC is at least GTX 1070 so yeah, you'd want a 1440p monitor for that.

4k monitor and GTX 1070. You can get a GTX 1080 for about $100-120 more. You can get a nice 1440p monitor for $120 less, a QNIX QX2710, which you should be able to easily OC between 96-120Hz. Don't get the 7600k, wait a week or so for Coffee Lake and grab an i5-8600k with a Z370 motherboard.

I've heard about this when you go 1070 or higher  you'd want 1440p instead of 1080p, how often do games reach 144hz with adjustments to video settings? I'm kinda in the same boat but i was just gonna get this 1080p monitor instead.
