New Gaming/Streaming Rig

Coolinee_Kerman

So, I want an upgrade from my current computer, a Late 2012 Mac mini, Horrible, I know, and I was wondering how this build looks for an upgrade: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PpBtzM I'm planning on doing light gaming and streaming with a budget of $1000. Any suggestions on how it could be improved (I'm planning on adding a 1tb HDD later on, but the will do me fine until then)

Better PSU + motherboard.

Also you may want to see Coffee Lake streaming performance.

The motherboard is crap, you can get the SL308 for $20 less than the 850 Evo, the GPU is apparently loud, and the PSU is mediocre for the price.

Replace the motherboard with the Pro4 or Prime Plus, and PSU with Capstone or CX/M

:)

Thing is, Coffee lake would mean having to downgrade other things to be able to fit it, and an aftermarket cooler in there

I'll see what the price is like with those, and, If I'm being honest I don't care so so much about the sound as long as I can tune it out with a standard YouTube video at half volume

While you are correct with the aftermarket cooler part:

you don't need the extra fan really and you can overclock all this with a 500W PSU. invested those costs in a better motherboard, maybe a better GPU

not in a way that will improve temperatures in any noticeable way (I've tested this) it just adds noise == useless

(edit) my friend has a phantex P400 and was convinced that he needed more fans so i brought a bunch (3) over and we stress tested with every possible configuration over the weekend to show that it brings nothing. case closed

Semi modular is just as good for cable management, unless you're going to replace all the cables. The CXM has all black cables, IIRC
